finally

found happiness with myself. this weekend was so eventful. it was all great and fun but tiring.

started of with thursday. i got a new work laptop. customized it all day. after work i ended up running errands with luis and playing video games at his house. friday morning i went to macys and got myself 2 dc shirts to get a vip pass to meet rob dyrdek. then ran more errands with allain. had lunch at yukai. grabbed a couple of beers. watched the hangover. hillarious! went to fix his car, met his friend drey who tested the car right after, had a chance to play with his DSi. rained then shined. went home and did laundry. sent massive amounts of junk email. saturday morning came along, stood in line for 2 hours to meet rob dyrdek. had lunch with nicole in front of macys. great convos. went home. went to kodachrome were i failed to take pictures because the bouncer was mean muggin me. met up with diego instead. grabbed some beers and calamari at gordon birsch. went to his place in chesapeake, played with his roomates dog prince. did some hookah' watched them play rock band. went home. woken up at 5am by drunk calls. couldnt go back to sleep so i surfed the net. got ready for lunch. diego scooped me up. tried to get sushi but misako was closed. went to bankok garden instead. ordered pad thai with extra hot sauce. wasnt spicy enough. next time im getting 2 extra hot sauce instead of 1. went home got ready for my trip to manteo. met up at best buy. drove to chesapeake air field. flew in a small 4 seater plane. saw the sky view of virginia beach/north carolina. landed in manteo. took landscape pictures. read some info on the manteo light house. which by the way is super tiny. ate an early dinner at stripers. had their north carolina pulled bbq sandwich. it was massive and sooo yummy. got back to the plane, mike decided to mess around and cut the engine off (stalled) so much better than a rollercoaster. felt my heart stop for a second too long. flew above the clouds. landed at home. little ryan came over dressed so i decided to change. he recommended heels >_< tried to go into the monticello ave parking but found out that it no longer existed. found parking in mcarthur mall north lot. santigold concert. went upstairs to the balcony for the opening acts. had a couple of beers. met amanda blank. took a picture. some guy's crack was super famous. people took pictures of his crack with their smiles and peace signs. went down stairs for the main act. found mel and ryan. took a picture. stood for 45mins. before santi came out. turns out she had a stomach flu. after all that wait and feet hurting because of heels, it was well worthed. she's amazing live! went home uploaded the pictures from the show.

now its work day numero uno. i cant wait for no doubt/paramore on wednesday!

Earth Hour

Today marks the 3rd year the earth will shut off all its lights for one hour. Lets all make a stand in Global warming and let our concerns be heard worldwide! I dont know about you, but id like to at least know that the earth will be around for many more years to come after me. If you need more information on this visit: earthhour.org and find out how you can help. Ill be in the dark for an hour tonight. what will you be doing?

So anyone else into the old school mixes. You know, the ones you could listen to for hours.
I remember when i was growing up, my older cousin introduced me to this mix of songs and i automatically fell in love with it.
Not to mention the funny djs making a song about lumpias at the end of it all. Hilarious stuff! Anyways, its the kuya tribe mixes that I'm refering to. A friend of mine happens to be really good friends with a local dj here, djmikerizzy. He was fortunate enough to produce a mix with Kuya Tribe. You can check it out on his website. I guarantee you wont be disappointed!

Oh today is also my cousins 15th birthday so HAPPY BIRTHDAY Joan! Youre now half of 30! Youre old! haha!

Culinary... Arts?

i probably should just go to a culinary art school since i enjoy cooking so much. today i decided to make a turkey burger with pepperjack cheese, turkey bacon, tomatoes, red onions, jalapeno peppers, sweet relsih and mushrooms all wrapped in a fresh green lettuce.

for the side dish, even though i guess you could say it was more of an appetizer or starter. i had assorted bell peppers with red onions wrapped in turkey bacon(since i couldnt find prosciutto) all topped with cucumber, lightly roasted mushrooms and garlic spread with wasabi paste for spice.

i know.. it sound weird.. but everything was sooo delicious! for dessert we had a neopolitan ice cream spread with chocolate syrup and fresh strawberries on the side.

oh the things i do when i have all the time in the world.

by the way.. although its not completely done, the official website is live. well atleast 2 pages of it is. haha. so check it out! http://www.katrinacruz.com

foreign films

is it just me or has there been a lot of foreign-american films that are just so amazing i cant help but love them! granted i havent watched an aweful lot of them, the ones that i have seen definitely left a mark in my head.  ive reccently watched Slumdog Millionaire, which if you havent seen, i suggest you do! yes, the theme is love but the story was really heart felt.
theres also Towelhead. A story of a lebanese girl growing up in an american suburbian setting. Lets just say that particular movie hit close to home. Less we forget about the touching story of two boys in Kite Runner. all these amazing films!

ive always been a fan of the indie films. even tho a lot of them are widely known by everyone, so i guess you can say theyre not really indie. i just enjoy movies that take you in and places you in a new setting. like an out of body experience. those movies are usually the ones that makes you think. they make you wonder about all the things in the world. the joys, the sadness, the good, the ugly. kind of boggles my mind and takes me in for a ride.

so if you guys could recommend any films like the ones ive talked about, let me know!

oh and a quick update: im currently rebuilding my website and its slowly but surely will come back to life within the next couple of days. the link is: katrinacruz.com and if youd like a preview of whats to come, check out the news page.

Vroom!

So exciting part of today consisted of a small Asian girl behind the driver seat in one of these bad boys!  I was so freaking happy! I finally got to drive one. Ive been waiting for someone to let me drive their 350z for the longest time and the only guy i knew who had one would never let me drive it. Darren is freaking awesome! he's the best! he let me drive it around for a while and he even told me to push it hard! mayn.. i love speed.  the little things that invigorates me and pushes me to thinking how great life truly can be. after all that excitement, i can honestly say that im ready for whats ahead. im focused and ready to get the show on the road.

okay that is all.

Lenten Season

this entry is really a week late, but i just wanted to have it written down somewhere at the vices i had decided to give up for lent. I gave up consuming alcoholic beverages as well as whole carbohydrates such as rice, pasta and bread. So far so good. I was definitely hating life for the first few days but after the first friday, I was holding up pretty well. I managed to avoid alcohol even though I went out with friends. Id say that its pretty strong of me to ignore all the temptations. The carb thing is the most difficult of all. Its so hard not eating anything with carbs. Everything, i mean EVERYTHING, has carbs in it. Im am however, sticking to veggies, fruits and poultry. Hopefully by day 40, I will be 10lbs lighter :)

I really wish that people would see that she isnt as bad as she seems. Of all the people that I have come to know and care for, i think she has been the only one that wasnt scared of telling me to get off my ass and be the strong person that she knew i would be. Granted she does things that are hurtful, she does truelly mean well. She's the one that makes me want to be that bigger and better person from what i am now. Im thankful that she stepped into my world and changed the way i saw things.

So March MADNESSSsss ahhh! Its already march and I have yet to find a job. I really need to buckle down and start applying everywhere! and this time I mean, EVERYWHERE. Including restaurants and fast food joints. Beggers cant be choosers at this economy.
